This Hot Wheels Mainline Car Is Selling Thousands

Every year we see a couple of Hot Wheels mainline cars that out perform their case partners and become highly sought after. We are not talking about the Treasure Hunt or Super Treasure Hunts, which we all know are a collectors favorite. We are talking about the standard mainline casting, included in several cases throughout the year and produced in the same quantities as every other car, but for some reason they become very popular.

This year is no exception, we have seen a flurry of activity around the Transformers Bumblebee Beetlebug car. The Honda Civic Si's have also been popular, there is one car though that has surprisingly been a huge hit selling thousands of cars on the secondary market.

The car is the Tesla CyberTruck. Whether you are a fan of the car or not, this casting is hot on the secondary market right now.

The Cybertruck Casting was first introduced in the 2021 mainlines in the Green Machines series. It was then released as a 2022 mainline in the Hot Trucks Series. This year in 2024 the 3rd mainline release was introduced in the Rolling Metal series.

Even though the Tesla CyberTruck Hot Wheels Mainline was introduced 4 years ago, it was only this year is became super hot. This is not suprising as the actually CyberTruck started shipping this year as well creating a lot of buzz. That buzz has carried over to Hot Wheels collectors and the secondary market.

Prior to this year this car was selling steadily for around the $8 to $10 mark. At the start of 2024 the price started to climb and has found an equilibrium at around the $25 mark. All 3 versions of the car have seen the pricing climb around the same. If you are a collector, I recommend going for the first casting, the 2021 Green Machines series.
