Hot Wheels is getting ready to release the next model in its growing Transformers crossover series, and this time the spotlight is on one of the most recognizable characters of them all: Bumblebee.
The upcoming Hot Wheels x Transformers Bumblebee takes the classic Generation 1 character and turns him into a transforming Volkswagen Beetle collectible.
And unlike a normal themed Hot Wheels release, this one actually transforms from vehicle mode into Bumblebee.
The Third Transforming Hot Wheels Transformers Release
Bumblebee is the third transforming release in the Hot Wheels x Transformers series.
The first was Optimus Prime, released in 2024. Hot Wheels recreated the classic Generation 1 version of Optimus Prime with the ability to transform from truck mode into robot mode.
Optimus Prime originally retailed for $80 and quickly sold out.
Since then, it has become one of the strongest performers in the series. According to HW Price Guide, the Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime is currently valued at around $277.
Hot Wheels followed that release with Nemesis Prime in 2025.
Nemesis Prime used the same transforming concept but gave collectors the darker evil counterpart to Optimus Prime.
That release originally retailed for $65 and also sold out.
However, its secondary market performance has been very different from Optimus Prime. HW Price Guide currently values Nemesis Prime at around $76.
That is a good reminder that even when a release sells out, it does not necessarily mean its value will immediately climb far above retail.
Now Bumblebee Is Next
The third release brings one of the most nostalgic Transformers designs to Hot Wheels.
Instead of using one of Bumblebee's more modern vehicle forms, Hot Wheels has gone back to the classic Generation 1 look.
That means Bumblebee transforms into the iconic Volkswagen Beetle.
In vehicle mode, the model features a yellow finish, blue-tinted windows, Autobot graphics and a slightly weathered appearance that gives the car a battle-worn look.
But the main attraction is the transformation itself.
The Beetle can be converted into Bumblebee, and the robot form features 13 points of articulation, allowing collectors to pose the figure for display.
Part Hot Wheels, Part Transformers Figure
That is what makes these releases different from most Hot Wheels collaborations.
They are not simply Hot Wheels cars with licensed graphics, and they are not traditional Transformers figures either.
They combine both sides of the hobby into one collectible that can be displayed in either vehicle mode or robot mode.
The packaging has also been designed with collectors in mind, allowing Bumblebee to be displayed in either form.
Bumblebee Will Cost $65
The Hot Wheels Transformers Bumblebee will retail for $65, matching the original price of Nemesis Prime.
That gives collectors an interesting comparison heading into the release:
- Optimus Prime: Originally $80, sold out, now valued around $277
- Nemesis Prime: Originally $65, sold out, now valued around $76
- Bumblebee: $65 retail price
With both previous Transformers releases selling out, there is a good chance Bumblebee will attract plenty of attention when it goes on sale.
Bumblebee is also one of the most recognizable Transformers characters ever, and the classic Volkswagen Beetle connection gives this release an additional nostalgia factor that could make it especially popular with collectors.
Will Bumblebee Follow Optimus Prime?
The big question will be what happens after the release.
Will Bumblebee follow Optimus Prime and become a highly sought-after secondary market collectible?
Or will its value stay much closer to retail, like Nemesis Prime?
Either way, collectors now have a third transforming Hot Wheels Transformers release to add to the series.

I do like this bumblebee but I think the Optimus Prime was way better. The value could go up on the Optimus Prime. But i dont think this will be worth more then the Optimus Prime.
