Hot Wheels collectors may want to set their alarms early on September 13.
Target is hosting a special Hot Wheels Collector Event at select stores across the United States, giving collectors the chance to open sealed Hot Wheels cases, hunt for new releases, and even pick up an exclusive Hot Wheels hat with qualifying purchases.
The event begins when participating Target stores open on September 13, and based on what Target has announced, this could be a very interesting morning for collectors.
One of the biggest attractions of the event is the opportunity to be among the first collectors to open and search through sealed Hot Wheels cases.
Rather than simply finding freshly stocked pegs, collectors attending participating locations will have the opportunity to see what is inside newly opened cases.

That could mean a chance to find new mainline releases, Treasure Hunts, Super Treasure Hunts, popular licensed castings, and other cars collectors are currently searching for.
Of course, there is never any guarantee that a particular case will contain a Super Treasure Hunt or another highly desirable release, but opening a fresh case is always one of the more exciting parts of Hot Wheels collecting.
Target has also outlined how purchases will work during the collector event.
Collectors will reportedly be able to purchase up to 10 Hot Wheels cars at one time.
After making your selection, you can then rejoin the line for another opportunity to look through the available cars.
This should give more collectors a chance to participate rather than allowing one person to immediately purchase everything from a newly opened case.
The cars aren't the only reason collectors may want to attend.
Target is also offering a special Hot Wheels embroidered hat with qualifying purchases during the event.
The hat features the classic Hot Wheels logo on a dark blue cap along with Target branding.
Like most promotional items, these will only be available while supplies last, so collectors interested in getting one may want to arrive early.
One important detail is that this is not a nationwide event at every Target location.
Target has released a list of participating stores across several states, including locations in:
Collectors should check the participating-store list before making the trip.
Considering the event begins at store opening and includes access to sealed cases, popular locations could attract quite a few collectors.
Anyone hoping to get an early look at the cases or grab one of the promotional hats may want to arrive before their participating Target opens.
Exactly how each location handles the event could also vary, so it is worth paying attention to instructions from Target employees when you arrive.
Events like this give collectors something that is increasingly difficult to find during a normal Hot Wheels hunt: the opportunity to see a completely fresh case being opened.
Whether you're chasing a Super Treasure Hunt, looking for new castings, or simply want to experience opening fresh cases with other collectors, September 13 could be worth putting on the calendar.
Just remember to confirm that your local Target is one of the participating stores before heading out.
Will you be attending one of the Target Hot Wheels Collector Events? And if you get the chance to open a fresh case, what car are you hoping to find?
