This FREE Hot Wheels Porsche Could Be One of Target’s Best Mail-Ins Yet

If you're planning a Hot Wheels hunt at Target over the next few weeks, there's another reason to start saving those receipts.

Mattel has officially revealed the latest Target Hot Wheels Collector Edition mail-in car, and this time collectors can get their hands on a very cool '78 Porsche 935-78.

The promotional Porsche is available to collectors who spend at least $20 on qualifying Hot Wheels products at Target during the promotion period.

And if you're a Porsche collector, this may be one mail-in you don't want to miss.

The New Target Collector Edition Porsche 935-78

The newest Target mail-in is based on the legendary Porsche 935-78 race car, a car that earned the nickname "Moby Dick" in the real world.

Hot Wheels has given the Collector Edition version a striking racing-inspired design featuring:

  • Spectraflame steel blue paint
  • Black, white, blue and pink accents
  • Hot Wheels graphics
  • Number 4 graphics on the hood and rear quarter panels
  • ZAMAC body
  • White 5-spoke Real Riders wheels
  • Semi-gloss black full-metal chassis
  • Light blue tinted windows
  • Silver interior

The combination of the huge rear wing, white wheels and retro Hot Wheels graphics makes this one of the more distinctive Collector Edition releases we've seen this year.

How To Get The Target Hot Wheels Porsche

The promotion runs from August 30 through October 10, 2026.

During that period, collectors need to purchase at least $20 before tax in qualifying Hot Wheels cars or multipacks from participating Target stores or Target.com.

You can use multiple receipts from within the promotion period to reach the $20 requirement.

For each Porsche you request, you'll need to send Mattel:

  • Your original Target store or online receipt
  • The qualifying Hot Wheels blister cards or multipack UPC codes
  • A completed promotional order form
  • A $7 shipping and processing payment for each Porsche requested

For single Hot Wheels cars, Mattel wants the entire cardboard blister card. You do not need to send the actual car or the plastic blister.

If you purchased your Hot Wheels from Target.com, make sure you use the actual online receipt. Mattel specifically states that packing slips will not be accepted as proof of purchase.

So Is The Porsche Really Free?

You'll probably see this described as a "free Hot Wheels Porsche," but there are a couple of costs collectors need to know about.

You must first purchase $20 worth of qualifying Hot Wheels products, and Mattel charges $7 shipping and processing for each Porsche.

So the Porsche itself is the promotional reward, but it isn't completely free once shipping and processing are included.

Of course, you still get to keep all of the Hot Wheels you purchased to qualify for the promotion.

You Can Get More Than One

Collectors aren't limited to a single Porsche.

You can request one Collector Edition Porsche for every $20 in qualifying purchases.

Mattel is limiting the promotion to a maximum of 10 promotional vehicles per person, household or address.

That means anyone hoping to grab extras for their collection can potentially get several, assuming they make enough qualifying purchases.

Don't Miss The Mail-In Deadline

There are two important dates to remember.

Your mail-in request must be postmarked by October 10, 2026 and must be received by Mattel no later than October 30, 2026.

Mattel says collectors should expect the Porsche to arrive approximately 8 to 12 weeks after October 30.

The offer is also available only while supplies last.

Target Is Also Holding Hot Wheels Collector Events

The Porsche isn't the only reason collectors may want to visit Target this month.

On September 13, 50 select Target stores will be holding special in-person Hot Wheels collector events.

Collectors attending those events will have the opportunity to open fresh Hot Wheels cases, search through new releases and hunt alongside other collectors.

There will also be 12 Target-exclusive recolors released as part of the promotion, including models from Porsche, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, McLaren and more.

The collector event is separate from the Porsche mail-in promotion, so you don't need to attend one of the 50 events to participate in the mail-in offer.

Is The Target Porsche Worth Going After?

For Porsche collectors, this one feels like an easy decision.

The Porsche 935-78 is already an aggressive-looking casting, and the combination of Spectraflame paint, Real Riders, a metal chassis and those retro Hot Wheels graphics gives the Collector Edition release a premium look.

It's also the type of promotional Hot Wheels that could be difficult to find later for collectors who miss the original mail-in window.

If you were already planning to buy Hot Wheels at Target, saving your receipts and blister cards could be well worth the effort.

Will you be sending away for the Target Collector Edition '78 Porsche 935-78, or are you skipping this mail-in?

If you live in Belgium how can I get one, I don’t think they ship to Belgium and the extra import cost is probably not worth the effort
