If you have been watching the Hot Wheels market over the last year, you will know that old trucks are starting to dominate the scene. Collectors are snapping them up, and they are increasing in value consistently.
None more so than the Custom '62 Chevy Pickup. We have been tracking this car, and nearly every casting has seen a surge in pricing in the last 12 months.
Starting back in 2008 with the first mainline casting, the 2008 Mainline Custom '62 Chevy (Red) has increased from an average of around $10 at the start of 2025 to $21 now.
The 2019 Hot Wheels 33rd Collectors Convention version of the Custom '62 Chevy is the most expensive and has more than doubled in price in the last year. Previously holding steady at around the $200 to $250 mark, it has skyrocketed to $550.
In 2020, the Custom '62 Chevy was featured in the Boulevard set as car number 8. Initially, it lingered in the low $10s, but in the last year, it has also seen a climb, now reselling for $25 on average and still rising.
Even the 2021 Hot Wheels 53rd Anniversary Custom '62 Chevy is seeing an increase. After remaining flat at a $6 resale value for several years, it has doubled to $12 in the last 12 months. Even the mass-produced non-premium cars are starting to see gains.
The rise of the Custom '62 Chevy is not isolated to a single casting; all versions are seeing an upward trend. If you like old square-body trucks, you might want to pick up some of these before prices go even higher.
