Hot Wheels collectors have another Red Line Club release to watch, and this one has a livery that almost always gets attention.
The upcoming Hot Wheels RLC Exclusive 1976 Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTI is coming in a Gulf Racing design, giving the small Volkswagen hatchback one of the most recognizable racing color schemes in the hobby.
This new release is scheduled to launch on June 30, 2026 at 9:00 am PT on Mattel Creations. It will be priced at $28, with a limit of 2 per customer.

The main draw here is clearly the Gulf Racing livery.
Hot Wheels collectors have always had a strong connection to Gulf releases. The light blue and orange color combination stands out immediately, and it has been used on some very popular Hot Wheels cars over the years.
For this RLC Exclusive, Mattel is using Spectraflame Gulf Blue over a silver-plated body. The car also features Gulf Racing graphics, period-correct sponsor logos, number graphics, and a look inspired by classic Group 2 racing and hill-climb events.
That gives this Golf Mk1 GTI a very different feel from the first version of the casting.

As expected for a Red Line Club release, this version is loaded with premium details.
The 1976 Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTI includes an opening hood with engine detail, ZAMAC die-cast metal body, matte black die-cast metal chassis, Real Riders racing wheels, light smoke window tint, and a molded black interior with classic GTI tartan seat inserts.
It will also come packaged in an acrylic display case with a decorative outer box.
For collectors who like compact European cars, Volkswagen releases, or Gulf livery Hot Wheels, this one checks a lot of boxes.

The 1976 Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTI is still a very new Hot Wheels casting.
The first release came out in 2025 as a Red Line Club Exclusive in Spectraflame Shadowchrome. That version gave collectors a clean and detailed debut for the casting, with the opening hood and premium RLC finish helping it stand out.

That first 2025 version is currently showing a $50 average value on HW Price Guide.
It has also been trending upward, moving from around $46 earlier in 2026 to its current $50 average. With the 2026 Gulf livery version now announced, interest in the casting appears to be picking up again.
That is one of the more interesting parts of this release. This is not just another Golf GTI. This is the second RLC version of a newer casting, and it is wearing one of the most collector-friendly liveries Hot Wheels can put on a car.

The 2025 Spectraflame Shadowchrome release already has value behind it, but the 2026 Gulf version may end up being the one that pulls in even more attention.
Gulf livery releases tend to have wide appeal because they reach beyond just one type of collector. Volkswagen collectors will want it. RLC collectors will want it. Gulf collectors will want it. And anyone who likes vintage racing-inspired Hot Wheels may want it too.
That does not always guarantee a sellout or a major jump in value, but it does make this release one to watch closely.
With the first version already sitting around $50, collectors will be watching to see how this new Gulf version performs once it hits the secondary market.

The big question for collectors is whether this is a one-and-done order, a max limit order, or a release they are willing to skip.
Given the popularity of Gulf livery, the early value movement on the 2025 release, and the continued interest in premium European castings, this is one collectors may want to keep on their radar.
