Mountain Drifters is coming back to Hot Wheels Car Culture for 2027, and based on this first look, collectors are going to be hunting this set hard.
The new assortment brings together a strong selection of Japanese performance and drift-inspired vehicles, including a new Nissan Skyline chase that immediately gives this release some serious collector appeal.
Here is our first look at the 2027 Hot Wheels Car Culture Mountain Drifters set.
The new Mountain Drifters assortment includes:
There is also a 0/5 chase version of the LB-Kaido Works Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R, finished in black.

The Nissan Silvia S13 is one of the most colorful cars in the assortment, featuring a blue drift-inspired design with an elaborate Japanese-style graphic covering the side of the car.
The full-size artwork on the card makes this one stand out immediately, and it should be a popular choice with JDM and drift collectors.

One of the biggest attractions in the set is the LB-Kaido Works Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R.
The regular version comes in white with a Liqui Moly racing livery, Toyo Tires branding and aggressive Liberty Walk-inspired styling.
But the version collectors will really be looking for is the chase.

The 0/5 chase R32 replaces the colorful racing livery with a much darker black and grey appearance, along with black wheels and small red accents.
And Mountain Drifters already has some serious history when it comes to valuable chase cars.
The original Hot Wheels Mountain Drifters set was released in 2022 and included one of the most desirable modern Car Culture chase cars ever produced.
That car was the black LB-ER34 Super Silhouette Nissan Skyline 0/5 chase.
Today, that Skyline is currently worth more than $500 on HW Price Guide and remains highly sought after by collectors.
That makes the new 2027 R32 chase especially interesting.
There is obviously no guarantee that the new car will ever reach the value of the original Mountain Drifters Skyline, but the combination of the Skyline name, Liberty Walk styling, a black chase finish and the return of the Mountain Drifters series should create plenty of demand.

The Mazda RX7 FC Pandem might be one of the cleanest cars in the set.
It comes in bright orange with black trim, a large rear spoiler and the wide Pandem body kit.
Compared with some of the heavily decorated cars in the assortment, the simple orange finish gives the RX7 a very different look.

The Toyota Stout Drift Truck gives the Mountain Drifters set something completely different.
The white truck features a Toyota Racing Development-inspired design with red, orange and yellow striping, black wheels and a heavily modified drift-truck appearance.
It is an unusual choice for a series dominated by Japanese sports cars, but that may also make it one of the sleeper favorites from the set.
Based on this first look, the 2027 Mountain Drifters assortment looks like one of the more interesting Car Culture releases we have seen for next year.
You have the Silvia, Evo, RX7, R32 Skyline and Toyota Stout all in the same assortment, with a black Skyline chase on top of it.
And after seeing what happened with the original 2022 Mountain Drifters chase, collectors are definitely going to be paying attention when these start appearing in stores.
The big question is whether the new LB-Kaido Works R32 Skyline chase can eventually become anywhere near as desirable as the original $500+ Mountain Drifters Skyline.
Which car from the 2027 Mountain Drifters set are you hunting first?
