A chrome chase Civic, a purple widebody Datsun and a Ford GT40 with a famous racing connection: these 2027 Hot Wheels Red Line Club sneak peeks give collectors plenty to put on their wishlists. The presentation previews five models, with the Honda Civic shown in both standard and chase versions.
Each preview slide lists spring 2027 as the planned on-sale window. These are advance previews, so final specifications, exact sale dates, prices and packaging should be confirmed when Mattel publishes the individual release details. The photos below show the original presentation slides.
The 1995 BMW M3 is identified as the membership car in the preview. Its blue body, rear wing and multi-spoke wheels give it a classic performance-car look, while the front, rear, roof and side views let collectors see the design from several angles.
The slide also shows a BMW-themed round pin and a Red Line Club 2027 patch alongside the car. Full membership-car purchase and accessory details remain to be confirmed. View the 1995 BMW M3 membership car on HW Price Guide.
The GT40 pairs a light blue body with contrasting red/orange nose accents, white racing stripes, number 1 graphics and gold-colored wheels with Goodyear lettering. That combination appears to reference the No. 1 Shelby American GT40 Mk II driven by Ken Miles and Denny Hulme at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Miles and Hulme finished second in Ford's historic 1–2–3 sweep, behind Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon. It is a racing connection that adds meaning beyond the color scheme. The Le Mans organizer's history of the 1966 Ford entries identifies Miles and Hulme's No. 1 as a Mk II.
A naming detail to watch: the preview slide calls this a “1966 Ford GT40 MKIV,” but the illustrated body and livery appear to depict a Mk II. We are referring to it here as the Ford GT40 while awaiting clarification of the final release name. View the Ford GT40 catalog entry.
Marked New Model on the slide, the 1972 BMW 2002 brings a very different character from the M3. The orange body, black accents, number 02 graphics and checkerboard details across the front create a distinctive vintage racer appearance.
The preview also shows flared arches and a roll-cage-style structure visible through the windows. For collectors who enjoy classic European racing designs, this is one to watch. View the 1972 BMW 2002 on HW Price Guide.
The 1972 Custom Datsun 240Z takes a more aggressive approach. Purple paint contrasts with oversized black fender flares, while a red interior, rear spoiler and deep-dish-style wheels complete the custom look.
The front view makes the width especially noticeable, and the roof view shows the hood detailing and the interior through the rear window. View the 1972 Custom Datsun 240Z on HW Price Guide.
The 1999 Honda Civic Type R is the other preview marked New Model. The slide shows a red standard version alongside a chrome chase, with roof and side views of both.
The red car has a red interior and a contrasting rear spoiler. The chase swaps the red exterior for a reflective chrome look, giving collectors two distinct versions of the same casting. No chase ratio or production quantity is specified on the slide.

Two BMWs, a racing-inspired GT40, a custom Datsun and a Civic with a chase option make for a varied spring preview. Which one goes straight onto your wishlist? And if the Civic is your pick, do you prefer the red standard version or the chrome chase?
